Auricular Acupuncture is a specialized complementary therapy where acupuncture points on the outer ear are treated, using either needles to help relieve many chronic complaints.
There are over 200 acupuncture points on the ear, each point named after an area of our anatomy. The outer ear acts like a switchboard to the brain. Each acupuncture point being treated triggers electrical impulses from the ear via the brain, to the specific part of the body being treated.
It's successfully used to treat anxiety, stress and insomnia, it is also a safe, natural and effective way of treating muscular and joint pain, and conditions such as digestive disorders, urinary infections and weight problems.
Auricular Acupuncture has recognized benefits for long-term allergies and addictions.
What happens when I go for a treatment?
The acupuncturist will use a number of different diagnostic methods to get a complete picture of your health and lifestyle.. Based on this information, the acupuncturist puts together your personal treatment plan. Acupuncture points are selected according to your symptoms as well as your underlying energy pattern.
How many treatments will I need?
Although each session is aimed at a specific problem, multiple sessions allow treatment of other health problems you may be suffering from. A complete and adequate treatment is provided for your own individual health need.
Frequency and number of sessions depend on your individual condition. The acupuncturist will normally ask to see you once or twice a week at first. Some change is usually felt within five or six treatments, although occasionally just one or two treatments are sufficient. Some people choose to have regular acupuncture to maintain good health.
